Born in North Yorkshire, England, Mike spent 23 years in the King’s Royal Hussars Cavalry Regiment in the British Army. When he retired, he took a position in the United States as a mechanical contractor, filling a need for the 3rd ID on their way to deployment in Iraq. The job lasted for seven years, but an introduction to a smart American lady led to a relationship and Mike didn’t want to leave. After a brief stint in Kuwait, he came back to the United States permanently to marry and settle in the Savannah area. The couple just traveled to the UK for the first time together, celebrating the marriage of Mike’s son.
With no further military employment on the horizon, Mike turned his focus toward business. He always dabbled in real estate as a hobby, walking through homes and exploring investments, so a career in that direction was a logical choice. Mike attended a real estate school locally, becoming fascinated with all aspects of sales, from marketing to building a loyal client base. He became such a successful agent in his area that NextDoor, a community relationship building website, awarded Mike the title of ‘Favorite Real Estate Agent’ for the 14 neighborhoods surrounding his Berwick home. Voted on by the residents, this reward reflected Mike’s commitment to helping clients buy the home they want or selling their home successfully. One of the best aspects of working at Landmark 24 Homes for Mike is the ability to continue regular sales while also providing the quality new construction in 24 Landmark communities.
Mike is a certified Military Relocation Professional. After such a long career and involvement in service, he understands the unique needs of the armed forces personnel that make up a large part of the customer base at Landmark 24.
Mike’s job is made easier by the many choices available for Landmark’s customers. When he takes clients to the spec homes, he appreciates that he has a visual for the plans available, “We build more specs than any other builder. There are houses on the ground which helps whether the customer wants a spec home or are building from the ground up. It helps them see what we’ve got and to choose. We have actual examples to go in, not just relying on imagination or seeing a picture.” He finds that many of the people he talks to go on tours with other builders, but are impressed by the extras that 24 Landmark Homes provides, “It’s the little things. The appliances are included in the price, the fridge. The irrigation is standard on the whole yard, front and back. Buyers love that.”
Mike’s lessons learned in the military taught him to develop relationships for the long-term. His regiment still gets together in England and he talks to them frequently. He uses this approach in real estate as well, taking care of his customers to form lasting connections and assist them in more than just one transaction.
